Materials Needed:
Tube of choice - no wider than 400 pixels however this is a suggestion at least 150 wide again this is a suggestion
Before we start:
- Knowledge of the use of Plug-Ins is recommended.
- Settings will remain the same unless otherwise indicated.
- Shortcuts for some tools will be in parentheses.
- Save your selected tube open in PSP.
- Remember to save often.
The Stationery
1. Shift+D to duplicate tube.
2. Close original.
3. Shift+D for second duplicate (2 total)
4. Resize one of the images.
Settings:
Pixel Dimensions: 85 Percent
Resample Using: Bicubic
Lock Aspect Ratio: Checked
Resize All Layers: Checked6. Adjust/Sharpness/Sharpen (if necessary)
7. Minimize that image.
8. Working on the second image
choose a foreground colour (left click)
and
choose a background colour (right click)
Note: One of these colours will be used as your text background, so choose a text-friendly color. It can be light or dark.
Otherwise, colour choice is up to you.
9. Materials Palette
Change the background colour to gradient.
10. Left click to open the gradient selection box.
Select Foreground-Background
Settings:
Angle: 45
Repeats: 0
Invert unchecked
Style: Linear
Texture unchecked
11. On the open tube image Layers/New Raster Layer
Settings:
Match Mode: None
Blend: Normal
Opacity: 100
Fill the layer with your gradient.
13. Layers/Arrange/Send to Bottom

15. Effects/PlugIns/FantasticMachines/PaintEngine

Type: Saturation 2

**Length: 40 (default is 30)
**Radiate: 2.00 (default is 1.00)
Motion Angle: 93
Curl: 10
Operation Angle: 130
Curl: 53
RGB Channel: R selected
APPLY
16. Effects/Image Effects/Seamless Tiling
Settings: default
Tiling method: Corner
Direction: Bidirectional
Horizontal Offset: 0
Vertical Offset: 0
(Width %: 50)
Transition %: 50
Corner Style: Linear
OK
Note: Your width and transition settings may be different. Do not change them.
17. Materials Palette
Change background gradient back to solid colour.
18. On your painted tube image make note of the height of the image.
Settings:
Selection Type: Rectangle
Mode: Replace
Feather: 0
Anti-alias checked
Settings:
Left: 0
Top: 50
Right: width of image
Bottom: height of image minus 50
OK
20. Layers/New Raster Layer
Settings: same as used before (Step 12)
22. Flood fill layer with one of your solid colours.
Note: This colour will also be used for your text background.
23. Effects/PlugIns/Fantastic Machines/PaintEngine
Settings:
SoftMarble 1 (default - see Step 15)
Change Stroke Length to 30
Change Radiate to 1.00
(if needed)
APPLY
24. Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow
Settings:
Vertical: 2
Horizontal: 2
Opacity: 30
Blur: 10.00
Colour: your choice
Shadow on new layer unchecked
OK
25. Repeat drop shadow changing
V & H to -2 (minus)
OK
26. Selections/Select None
27. Effects/Image Effects/Seamless Tiling
Settings:
Tiling Method: Edge
Direction: Horizontal
(Horizontal Offset: 0)
(Vertical Offset: 0)
Width %: 51
Transition %: 50
(Corner Style: Linear)

Note: Again, your width and transitions settings may be different. Do not change them.
28. Image/Canvas Size
Settings: Pixels
Width: width of your image
Height: 1800
Lock aspect ratio unchecked
Background: Null
Placement: Top centre arrow
OK
Note: You may want to hit the + (plus) sign on your number pad to zoom in.
29. Layers/New Raster Layer
Settings: Same as before (Step 12)
31. Flood fill with same solid colour used
in Step 22.
32. Apply Paint Engine with same settings used in Step 23.
They should already be set.
33. Effects/Image Effects/Seamless Tiling
Settings: same as used before (Step 27)
They should already be set.
34. Layers/Arrange/Send to Bottom
35. Layer Palette
Click on middle layer (painted tube-gradient layer) to make it active.
36. Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow
Settings: Change V & H to 2
OK
37. Layer Palette
Click on top layer (painted solid strip) to activate it.
38. Maximize duplicate tube image.
39. On duplicate tube image
Edit/Copy
40. Edit/Paste as New Layer onto stationery image
Move the tube between the upper and lower edges of the painted strip. It is okay if it overlaps.
42. Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow
Settings: same as used in Step 36 This should already be set.
OK
43. Apply watermark and artist credits.
Note: You may add text and/or embellishments if you like.
44. Layers/Merge/Merge Visible
45. File/Export/JPEG Optimizer
Settings:
Compression: between 20 and 25
Try to get a file size under 125 kb.
46. Save your JPEG.
The Tag
Settings: same as before
2. Drag your cursor to select the area that is the top border of your image.
3. Edit/Copy
4. Edit/Paste as a New Image
5. Add text, frames, or a bevelled edge if you like.
6. Resize and sharpen as preferred.
7. Save as a different file name in your preferred format.
Letter Creator
1. Body Tab
Image: your saved stationery jpeg
Tile: clicked
Text: choose a complimentary font and complimentary text and link colours
Margins:
Top: adjust so text is 10-20 pixels below lower edge of top border
Left: 10
Right: 10
2. Footer Tab
Add creator information:
Your letter name
Your name and link
Add tutorial information:

3. Finish Tab
Name your letter and choose your collection.
Click Save Project.
Click Add to Incredimail.
